Data security and confidentiality

MEDER & TAL recognizes that the information you provide to us may be confidential. The Firm will maintain the confidentiality of information provided to us and protect it in accordance with the Firm's normal procedures and all applicable laws.

Data protection information for clients and other data subjects

1. Collection and storage of personal data and the nature, purpose and use of such data

When you contact us or instruct us, we collect the following information:

  •     Salutation, first name, last name

  •     e-mail address,

  •     address,

  •     telephone number/fax number,

  •     Information necessary for the assertion and defense of rights under a mandate granted or for the performance of a planned or existing business relationship,

  •     information necessary for the notarial office activity.


This data is collected for the following purposes:

  •     To identify you as our client, business partner, party to a deed, provider or claimant,

  •     to be able to advise or represent you appropriately, if necessary,

  •     in order to be able to protect your interests as a person seeking legal assistance, in particular in the case of notarizations and other official notarial transactions,

  •     for correspondence,

  •     to fulfill our obligations,

  •     for invoicing,

  •     for the settlement of any liability claims and the assertion of any claims against you.


The data processing is carried out either upon request or at our instigation and is required in accordance with Art. 6 Paragraph I S. 1 lit. b DSGVO for the aforementioned purposes for the appropriate processing of the mandate or the contract and for the mutual fulfillment of obligations arising therefrom. Insofar as the data processing serves the notarial office activity, it is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 Paragraph I S. 1 lit. c and lit. e DSGVO.

The data will be deleted when they are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they were collected or otherwise processed. They will be deleted no later than the expiry of the statutory retention periods, unless longer storage is necessary for the fulfillment of legal obligations pursuant to Art. 6 para. I p. 1 lit. c and lit. e DSGVO or for the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims or you have consented to storage beyond this pursuant to Art. 6 para. I p. 1 lit. a DSGVO.

2. Transfer of data to third parties

Your personal data will only be passed on to third parties for the purposes listed. This includes in particular the transfer to opposing parties and their representatives (in particular their lawyers) as well as courts and other public authorities. The data passed on may only be used by the third party for the purposes stated. Statutory confidentiality obligations shall remain unaffected. Insofar as the data is subject to attorney-client privilege, it will only be disclosed to third parties in consultation with you.

3. your rights as a data subject

You have the right:

  •     Pursuant to Art. 7 (3) DSGVO, to revoke your consent once given to us at any time. This has the consequence that we may no longer continue the data processing based on this consent for the future;

  •     to request information about your personal data processed by us in accordance with Art. 15 DSGVO. In particular, they may request information about the purposes of processing, the category of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom their data have been or will be disclosed, the planned storage period, the existence of a right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing or objection, the existence of a right of complaint, the origin of their data if it has not been collected by us, and the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, and, where applicable, meaningful information about its details;

  •     pursuant to Art. 16 DSGVO, to request the correction of incorrect or incomplete personal data stored by us without undue delay;

  •     pursuant to Art. 17 DSGVO, to request the erasure of your personal data stored by us, unless the processing is necessary for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information, for compliance with a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims;

  •     pursuant to Art. 20 DSGVO, to receive your personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format or to request the transfer to another controller; and

  •     complain to a supervisory authority in accordance with Art. 77 DSGVO. As a rule, you can contact the supervisory authority of your usual place of residence or workplace or our registered office for this purpose.


4 Right of objection

Insofar as your personal data are processed on the basis of legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 para. I p. 1 lit. f DSGVO, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data pursuant to Art. 21 DSGVO, insofar as there are grounds for doing so that arise from your particular situation. 1. Collection and storage of personal data as well as type and purpose and their use


When you access our website www.medertal.com, information is automatically sent to the server of our website by the browser used on your end device. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file. The following information is collected without your intervention and stored until automated deletion:

  •     Date and time of access,

  •     Name and URL of the accessed file,

  •     website from which the access was made (referrer URL),

  •     browser used and, if applicable, the operating system of your computer as well as the name of your access provider.

  •     The aforementioned data is processed by us for the following purposes:

  •     Ensuring a smooth connection setup of the website,

  •     Ensuring a comfortable use of our website,

  •     evaluation of system security and stability as well as

  •     for other administrative purposes.


The legal basis for the data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. f DSGVO. Our legitimate interest follows from the purposes for data collection listed above. In no case do we use the collected data for the purpose of drawing conclusions about your person.

In addition, we use cookies and analysis services when you visit our website. You can find more detailed explanations of this under points 3 and 4 of this data protection declaration.

2. Transfer of data

Your personal data will not be passed on to third parties for purposes other than those listed in section 1 and will only be used within the framework of the statutory provisions.

You have the right

  •   In accordance with Art. 15 DSGVO, to request information about your personal data processed by us. In particular, you can request information about the processing purposes, the category of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom your data has been or will be disclosed, the planned storage period, the existence of a right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing or objection, the existence of a right of complaint, the origin of your data if it has not been collected by us, as well as the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, and, if applicable, meaningful information about its details;

  •   pursuant to Art. 16 DSGVO, to request the correction of incorrect or incomplete personal data stored by us without undue delay;

  •   pursuant to Art. 17 DSGVO, to request the erasure of your personal data stored by us, unless the processing is necessary for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information, for compliance with a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims;

  •   in accordance with Art. 18 DSGVO, to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data, insofar as the accuracy of the data is disputed by you, the processing is unlawful, but you object to its erasure and we no longer require the data, but you need it for the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims or you have objected to the processing in accordance with Art. 21 DSGVO;

  •   pursuant to Art. 20 DSGVO, to receive your personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, common and machine-readable format or to request that it be transferred to another controller;

  •   in accordance with Art. 7 (3) DSGVO, to revoke your consent once given to us at any time. This has the consequence that we may no longer continue the data processing, which was based on this consent, for the future; and

  •   complain to a supervisory authority in accordance with Art. 77 DSGVO. As a rule, you can contact the supervisory authority of your usual place of residence or workplace or our registered office for this purpose.


6. Right of objection

If your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 (1) p. 1 lit. f DSGVO, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data pursuant to Art. 21 DSGVO, provided that there are grounds for doing so that arise from your particular situation or the objection is directed against direct advertising. In the latter case, you have a general right of objection, which is implemented by us without specifying a particular situation.

7. Data security

Within the website visit, we use the widespread SSL procedure (Secure Socket Layer) in connection with the highest encryption level supported by your browser. As a rule, this is a 256-bit encryption. If your browser does not support 256-bit encryption, we use 128-bit v3 technology instead. You can tell whether an individual page of our website is encrypted by the closed key or lock symbol in the lower status bar of your browser.

We also use appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, partial or complete loss, destruction or against unauthorized access by third parties. Our security measures are continuously improved in line with technological developments.
